Luxury Fashion Startup SYKY Launches Digital Platform at London Fashion Week
2 min read
Luxury fashion startup SYKY is set to launch its digital platform during London Fashion Week. Founded Alice Delahunt, SYKY aims to create a blockchain-native home for leading creators in both digital and physical fashion. The platform, which received a $10.5 million Series A fundraise led Alexis Ohanian’s investment firm Seven Seven Six, will offer users the opportunity to purchase digital and physical fashion items designed emerging creators and established luxury brands. These items will be released in curated drops, with the first collection featuring 40 digital fashion items and a one-of-a-kind physical handbag accompanied a digital twin from Chinese digital artist Fanrui Sun.
Delahunt’s previous experience as Burberry’s Global Director of Digital and Social and Ralph Lauren’s Chief Digital Officer demonstrates her commitment to embracing technology in the fashion industry. At Burberry, she spearheaded tech experiments such as livestreaming runway shows and debuting exclusive peeks at new collections on social media. At Ralph Lauren, Delahunt collaborated with Bitmoji, Snapchat, and Zepeto to bring the company’s designs into the virtual realm.
SYKY’s platform will allow users to trade on-chain digital fashion collectibles on a secondary marketplace. Additionally, users will be able to showcase their virtual fashion wardrobes through the platform’s social media function, connecting digital wallets to their profiles. Delahunt believes that SYKY’s distinct value proposition lies in its connectivity not only to the digital fashion ecosystem but also to the broader luxury fashion world. The platform aims to appeal to fashion industry collectors, VIPs, and enthusiasts alike.
While the fashion industry’s shift towards a hybrid of digital and physical offerings is seen as inevitable, the vision of leveraging blockchain and the metaverse to challenge the centralized power of luxury brands and create a democratized status quo has faced challenges. SYKY aims to bridge this gap collaborating with established fashion brands and promoting the work of emerging designers from around the world.
SYKY’s launch will be celebrated with an event in London, co-hosted with the British Fashion Council, as part of the official program for London Fashion Week.
