Nexstar Media Group, Inc. has announced the appointment of Cathy Gunther as Vice President and General Manager of its broadcasting and digital operations in Sacramento, California. Gunther brings over twenty years of experience in broadcast management, programming, research, and sales to her new role.
Throughout her career, Gunther has excelled in growing revenue and profitability implementing innovative cross-platform marketing initiatives and sponsorship opportunities. She has also demonstrated the importance of creating unique strategies for advertising and marketing clients and promoting local businesses.
Gunther most recently served as Vice President and General Manager of KOKI-TV and KMYT-TV in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she was responsible for the long-term strategy and day-to-day management of both television stations. Under her leadership, ratings grew, and the revenue share of both stations significantly increased. Gunther expanded local news and developed new sports programming to enhance viewer and advertiser engagement.
Prior to her role in Tulsa, Gunther held management positions at KTVU-TV in San Francisco and various sales leadership roles in California and Colorado.
Matthew Rosenfeld, Senior Vice President and Regional Manager for Nexstar’s broadcasting division, expressed confidence in Gunther’s expertise and leadership abilities and believes she will elevate revenue and ratings for FOX40 and strengthen Nexstar’s presence on the west coast.
