In a recent Xbox Games Showcase, developers announced a new free DLC for Microsoft Flight Simulator. This DLC is inspired the world of Dune and aims to immerse players in the fantastical environment of the film and book series.
To gain a better understanding of the Dune universe, Jorg Neumann, the head of Microsoft Flight Simulator, and Parris Lilly, a YouTuber and podcaster, visited ORIGO Studios in Budapest. ORIGO Studios is one of the key shooting locations for the Dune film. During their visit, they had the opportunity to meet with Patrice Vermette, the Oscar-winning production designer of the film, and explore the actual ornithopter prop used in the movie. The discussions revolved around bringing the fantasy flying machine to life in Microsoft Flight Simulator.
The Dune-themed DLC will be released in conjunction with the theatrical release of “Dune: Part Two” on November 3. It will feature ornithopter missions set on the desert planet of Arrakis, providing players with a unique and immersive experience inspired the film and book series.
This new DLC is part of Microsoft Flight Simulator’s efforts to continuously expand its content and provide players with new and exciting experiences. By partnering with popular franchises like Dune, the game aims to attract both aviation enthusiasts and fans of other entertainment mediums.
