FIM Speedway Introduces First-Ever Metaverse Season with Immersive Fan Experience

FIM Speedway, the global promoter of FIM Speedway, is celebrating its 100th anniversary offering fans a preview of the first-ever FIM Speedway Metaverse Season. This new initiative aims to engage fans through interactive experiences using Web3 technology and expand the speedway community.
Partnering with Infinite Reality (iR), the events division of Warner Bros. Discovery Sports Europe, FIM Speedway is exploring ways to provide immersive fan engagement opportunities. The virtual reality platform, accessible via Google’s Chrome browser on laptops and desktops, allows fans to enter the virtual speedway environment without the need for VR glasses.
With the goal of reaching a wider audience, FIM Speedway plans to launch a mobile application for the Metaverse during the 2024 FIM Speedway season. This will enable fans to connect with the sport and experience it in new and exciting ways.
The preview of the FIM Speedway Metaverse Season has been well-received fans. A survey conducted the National Research Group (NRG) revealed that 96% of attendees found the experience to be innovative. Users spent an average of 138 minutes in the immersive experience, indicating high engagement levels.
To bring fans even closer to the sport they love, FIM Speedway has introduced several innovations. Virtual Skyboxes allow audiences to interact with the speedway environment from a unique perspective. Meet and Greets, Virtual Lounge Areas, and a Shop provide spaces for fans to engage with speedway riders, legends, and other fans. Content Zones offer access to additional on-demand video content, while live race data screens provide up-to-date information from the riders.
The Metaverse experience offers benefits such as Avatar Overhead Video and Audio Chat for socialization, a Generative AI Host for real-time information, and Dynamic Camera Selection for customizable views. Map Teleportation allows for quick exploration, and intuitive device navigation ensures a seamless user experience.

Discovery Sports Europe, stated that the FIM Speedway Metaverse experience is a way to further elevate the sport and engage both existing and new fans.
