Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Officially Revealed: Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies

The highly anticipated Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has finally been revealed, marking the first time in the franchise’s history that a direct sequel follows a Modern Warfare title. Set to commemorate the 20-year anniversary of the Call of Duty franchise, the game will continue the epic story from where Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 left off, with players joining Captain Price and Task Force 141 as they confront the ultimate threat posed ultranationalist Vladmir Makarov.

One of the exciting features of Modern Warfare 3 is the introduction of Open Combat Missions, a new storytelling sequence that emphasizes player choices and offers branching paths, adding a fresh layer of immersion to the game’s campaign mode.

In the multiplayer arena, fans of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be thrilled to find that the game will launch with 16 classic maps, including nostalgic favorites like Terminal and Rust. All of these maps have been remastered and modernized, and players can expect a range of new gameplay features and modes. Additionally, there will be 12 more maps released as free post-launch content during the game’s seasonal offerings.

With regards to gameplay mechanics, Modern Warfare 3 introduces the Tac-Stance system, specifically designed for tactical close-quarters combat. Players will also have access to an expanded Gunsmith feature, enabling them to customize and enhance their weapons through various combinations of additional aftermarket parts.

Moreover, the game brings new game modes and movement mechanics to the table. Players can try out the intense Cutthroat mode, a 3v3v3 experience, and enjoy faster aim-down-sights (ADS) after sliding, reload cancel, and slide cancel.

In a groundbreaking move, Treyarch, known for their work on Zombies mode, has incorporated an open world Zombies experience into the Modern Warfare franchise for the first time. This new mode allows players to team up with other squads to battle hordes of the undead in the biggest Call of Duty zombies map ever created. The mode will continue the Dark Aether storyline seen in previous Call of Duty games.

For those eager to get a taste of Modern Warfare 3 before its official release, an open beta will take place closer to launch. Players who pre-order the game will have early access to the beta, while it will eventually be available to everyone for free.
