Assassin’s Creed Mirage: Everything We Know So Far

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is an upcoming stealth-action adventure game that takes inspiration from the earlier years of the Assassin’s Creed series. It is a return to the franchise’s stealth-focused roots, offering a fresh gameplay experience. Here’s everything we know about Assassin’s Creed Mirage so far.

Release Date, Price, and Platforms:

Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be released on October 5 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The game is priced at $50 USD, which is a notable discount compared to the industry standard of $70.

Gameplay:

The gameplay of Assassin’s Creed Mirage combines stealth and combat elements. Direct combat is treated as a last resort, with stealth options being the primary focus. The protagonist, Basim Ibn Ishaq, has a wide range of stealth tools and abilities, including the hidden blade, smoke bombs, blow darts, and throwing knives. One new ability introduced in the game is Assassin’s Focus, which allows Basim to pause time, select targets, and chain assassinations.

Parkour is another important aspect of the gameplay. Players will be able to free-run through the streets, buildings, and rooftops of Baghdad. The city is designed with parkour in mind, offering a variety of movement opportunities for setting up assassinations.

History of Baghdad:

In Assassin’s Creed Mirage, players will have access to a “History of Baghdad” feature. This feature provides curated historical information and images about 9th-century Baghdad. It is integrated into the main game and can be fully unlocked across 66 in-game sites. The information covers various aspects of the city’s daily life, culture, economy, and more.

Story and Setting:

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is set in 9th-century Baghdad and follows the story of Basim Ibn Ishaq, a street thief with nightmarish visions who eventually becomes a Master Assassin. Basim joins an ancient organization called The Hidden Ones after fleeing Baghdad. As he delves deeper into their rituals and tenets, he discovers his own unique abilities and experiences a transformative journey.

Map Size:

The map of Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be similar in size to Assassin’s Creed Unity’s Paris or Assassin’s Creed Revelation’s Constantinople. The game features four districts of Baghdad, including the industrial Karkh and the lush gardens of the Round City.

Game Length:

Assassin’s Creed Mirage will take approximately 20-30 hours to complete. Mainline playthroughs will take around 20 hours, while completionists can expect closer to 30 hours of gameplay.

DLC and Microtransactions:

There are currently no plans for DLC or extensive post-launch content for Assassin’s Creed Mirage. However, the game will offer cosmetic-only microtransactions with no real gambling or loot boxes.

Special Editions:

Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be available in three different editions: Standard, Deluxe, and Collector’s Case. Each edition includes various additional content such as quests, figurines, soundtracks, and more. Pre-orders will also come with “The Forty Thieves” quest.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is shaping up to be an exciting addition to the Assassin’s Creed series, offering a return to the series’ stealth-focused gameplay with new features and a rich historical setting.
