IDW Games will be releasing a board game based off of the popular animated series The Legend of Korra called The Legend of Korra: Pro-bending Arena.
The Legend of Korra: Pro-bending Arena will focus on the rivalry between the two main teams featured in the show, The Future Industries Fire Ferrets and The White Falls Wolfbats. The company says the game will bring the excitement of the pro-bending sport to tabletop.
The two-player game has each person take control of one of the teams and then draft cards. They will use their cards to place elemental tokens around the board in an attempt to overwhelm the other team. Just like in the show, you win by either knocking your opponents out of the ring or by advancing forward the farthest.
Jerry Bennington, VP of New Product Development at IDW Publishing, expressed his excitement about working with Nickelodeon to develop the game.
“We’re thrilled to be working closely with Nickelodeon on The Legend of Korra: Pro-bending Arena. The relationship has truly helped hone the game into an experience that can be enjoyed by all tabletop gamers, but will also be an exciting addition to The Legend of Korra universe that fans love.”
IDW Games and Nickelodeon already have an established relationship with each other. They previously worked together on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shadows of the Past board game.
The Legend of Korra: Pro-bending Arena will launch on Kickstarer this summer. They expect to release the game in stores in the fall. The two-player game takes about 30-45 minutes to play and will sell for $49.99.
