Plan B Games, which was only recently founded, has announced that their first game will be Century: Spice Road, designed by Emerson Matsuuchi.
The game’s description on Board Game Geek lists four main actions: establish a trade route by taking a market card, play a card from your hand to make a trade or harvest spices, fulfill a demand by meeting a card’s requirements and taking it, and take all your cards back into your hand.
The game ends when a player has fulfilled 5 demand cards. Then the players all total up their victory points, which they get from demand cards, and whoever has the most points wins.
If the game sounds kind of familiar, it’s because it seems that it is a tweaked version of Caravan. Z-Man Games announced Caravan, designed by Emerson Matsuuchi, in 2016.
Caravan was actually originally going to be released by Plaid Hat Games, but they turned the game over to Z-Man, who then has now given it to Plan B Games.
Plan B Games has taken the game and made it into a trilogy. Century: Spice Road will be the first game in a trilogy of Century games. The games will each take place in a different century and will depict the major trading systems and routes of those eras.
Century: Spice Road will be released worldwide June 14, 2017. It is for 2-5 players, takes about 30-45 minutes to play, and will cost $39.99.
